The Engine of America: Expanding the SBA to Secure Our Economic Future
A healthy economy supports businesses at every stage. Last week, we addressed the needs of microbusinesses—of mom and pop shops. This week, we will explore the middle-market. The first challenge for middle-market companies is a legal and financial “no-man’s land.” They are often too large for traditional micro-lending and community banks, but too small to access public capital markets.
The Engine of America: Expanding the SBA to Secure Our Economic Future
I believe in the American Dream—ownership, independence, and opportunity. I want to empower more Americans to start a small business and rebuild Main Street because small businesses create the jobs our communities rely on. Because I want to rebuild Main Street, I support expanding the Small Business Administration, promoting entrepreneurship, and encouraging more Americans to own their future. And I will show you why and how in a three-part series.
The ParDON Power.
Today marks five years since an attempted insurrection, the moment Democracy began to unravel. But Donald Trump invoked his power to pardon criminals and pardoned the January Sixth Insurrectionists. Pardons are one of the most important powers presidents have, a great responsibility, and Donald Trump is using them to pardon allies, sycophants, insurrectionists, and fraudsters.
2025 at a Glance
The primary is fast approaching, and now is our moment. Let’s channel our New Year's energy into real action. This is our year to step up, push harder, and show what we’re made of. Think: New Year. New You. New Congress.
The DNA Act
Have you or someone you know ever been denied a medical procedure or course of treatment by your insurance company? If you answered yes, you are not alone.
Affordability: Reality vs Rhetoric
Here’s what I know to be true. I pay less at the gas pump, and I am grateful for that—truly. I also pay more for groceries. A lot more. We thrift 95% of our clothes and buy used/refurbished to save money. I pay more for homeowner’s insurance, and for my property taxes. I pay more for most things I buy. I have out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. And I am not alone—most Americans can agree that affordability is one of the single most pressing issues in society today.
Tough on Crime, Easy on Profit: Private Prisons
Today, GEO Group and CoreCivic, two of the largest private prison companies, control half of the private prisons in the U.S. and generate billions in annual revenue. These companies profit from housing those convicted of crimes—people’s uncles, fathers, mothers, and daughters. These companies benefit from imprisoning American citizens. And it comes at a steep cost. Privately run prisons cut corners.
Read First, Then You Decide: Who Really Wins?
The Big “Beautiful” Bill provides massive tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans, while leaving millions of families behind. In fact, the Big “Beautiful” Bill (“Bill”) is responsible for massive cuts to food assistance, health care, education programs, and student loan services. It is 870 pages long and packed with hundreds of different provisions, making it difficult for people like you and me to know what it truly contains—but Tom Cole voted for it. So, let’s break down that vote.
Gathered in Gratitude, United in Purpose
Thanksgiving is a day where millions of Americans pause, gather, and connect. For many, Thanksgiving carries a complicated history, and it has a different meaning and significance for each of us. For some, it is a time for celebration and coming together, and for others, the entire day is a painful reminder. It is important to recognize that truth.
Across the District
Stretching all the way from Texas to South Oklahoma City, Oklahoma’s Congressional District Four comprises 14 counties. Carter, Cleveland, Comanche, Cotton, Garvin, Grady, Jefferson, Love, McClain, Murray, Pontotoc, Stephens, Tillman, and a small portion of Oklahoma County. The district is just shy of 800,000 people. That is a lot of ground and a lot of voices. Luckily for us, this is a strength for a campaign like ours. This grassroots campaign is powered by people like you and is meant to uplift voices like yours.
Leader With A Plan
I wonder what can happen when we dare believe that government services can benefit the working class and where we dare to ask the wealthy to pay their fair share. I wonder what could happen if we rebuilt the American middle class.
Dear Veterans,
The single greatest thing I learned in the Army is how to accept people for who they are, or who they’re striving to be. The army taught me to work with people from all pasts, backgrounds, and experiences. We are all on the same team—Team U.S.A
Like you, I took an oath, “I, Mitchell Jacob, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” When I took this oath, I meant it. And my oath carries no expiration date.
America’s Wallet
Federal budget. Fiscal year. Am I already losing you? The complexities and intricacies of our budget can make it hard to follow. But we must pay close attention because money shapes our lives, and the budget affects everything. A budget is more than just numbers; it is a mosaic that reflects our values and priorities. It dictates the focus of the fed
Government Shutdown
We have had government shutdowns before, but this one is different. Lawmakers are really at a gridlock and are making it hard to come together and negotiate. My two-year-old has better communication skills than our members of Congress–we have been teaching him how to use his words. He is a quick learner!
No King’s Day
The concept of No Kings Day is from the very core of our nation. To our founding fathers, this concept was not new to them. Inspiration for the Constitution came from many things but the founding fathers believed that all people have rights–rights that even a king must respect. If you ask me, it is an interesting time in history. A harmonic, if you will. Two very different stories, yet the same core concepts.
