Leader With A Plan

Our nation’s history is marked by milestones. Those pivotal moments that changed lives. As I think of this country I love, I wonder what milestones we can still achieve—together. When the People stand up to challenge the power of PACs and lobbyists, and when grassroots campaigns put leaders with a plan in the United States Congress. I wonder what can happen when we dare believe that government services can benefit the working class and when we dare to ask the wealthy to pay their fair share. I wonder what could happen if we rebuilt the American middle class.

Looking ahead. Planning ahead. Preparing. Getting ready to serve you. I have been working on three pieces of legislation that I am ready to draft and sponsor when elected. The DNA Act, the HOPE Act, and a statutory change for the federal government.

The HOPE Act

I took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and ultimately, I respect the Second Amendment. It is your right to bear arms. The HOPE Act, at its core, will say that if you purchase a firearm for a minor or if you purchase a firearm and negligently store it, and a minor uses that firearm to commit a crime, then you will be vicariously liable and charged for the crimes as the minor. Exercise your rights; they are yours, and I will fight to defend them. I am an advocate for responsible gun ownership.

The DNA Act

The DNA Act comes from a story I often hear repeated, and it may have affected you. Perhaps one of your family members had a doctor recommend a course of treatment, but the insurance company denied it? It happens far too often. Patients pay premiums only to have their care denied. Insurance should be a risk for both parties. The DNA Act seeks to ensure that both the insurance company and the patients are taking risks, that your premiums guarantee you service at those crucial moments in life. The Act will essentially say that if a licensed physician recommends a course of treatment, the insurance company can deny it only if two duly licensed physicians who have taken the Hippocratic oath determine that it is not necessary. Not an accountant or someone who works in the insurance company's finance department.

Single-Subject Rule

Next on my list is the single-subject rule. Oklahoma’s constitution has a provision known as the single-subject rule. It is something I am very proud of Oklahoma for upholding. What it says is that if you are going to write a bill and pass it through the Oklahoma legislature, then it can only be about one subject–a single subject. At the federal level, you can put anything you want onto a piece of paper and get it signed into law. We saw this happen with the big “beautiful” bill. It is impossible to keep track of a single thing in a bill like this–and it makes it easy for them to distract us. In Oklahoma, it is unconstitutional to have more than one subject in a bill. I want the federal government to be beholden to this rule as well. If they want to do everything on the big “beautiful” bill, we need to vote on each item individually. We, the people, deserve transparency.

Democracy Is Not a Spectator Sport

All of this is intentional. It always is. I plan to uphold the Constitution responsibly, advocate for better healthcare, and impose greater transparency upon the federal government. It has been far too long since we have had someone in D.C. who is one of us. It is time for Tom to go. And it is time for new representation.

Let’s build on the momentum of this new generation of change. A new era where the government represents the working class of America. Protects families. And respects the Constitution. Democracy needs your courage right now—our courage. It needs you to stand behind leaders who will truly represent you. A leader who understands the struggles of everyday Oklahomans. It requires one of us. Someone who will look ahead and put the people first. Oklahoma needs someone with a plan and follow-through.

Ultimately, my plan is simple. I will fight for Oklahoma's values and will stand up every day to protect our state's future. So, I am asking, will you stand behind a leader with a plan?
