How Real Change Happens

This one is for those who are tired of the status quo. For those who don’t want more of the same. For the people who feel exhausted watching the same people stay in power while working families continue to struggle. For the people who wonder if casting a ballot every few years is really enough. I’ll say it: turn that frustration into action.

Your vote 100% matters, but real change has never come from voting alone. It takes people like you and me actively working together behind the scenes to mobilize voters, build community, and spread awareness. We may not feel the collective power of this all the time, but when we look at the people-powered campaigns winning across the country and the millions of people taking part in protests against this administration, we are organizing—and when we organize, we win.

Grassroots movements, movements just like this one, ensure that anyone can organize for change and give people direct control over improving their communities. So far, this campaign has already laid the groundwork for a historic movement. One that unseats Tom Cole and flips CD4 in November. When I launched this campaign, I knew I wouldn’t be able to win on my own. That’s why we built a multi-county organization that we are ready to deploy in the General Election. Thanks to dedicated volunteers, we’ve already reached thousands of voters.

In fact, we’ve knocked more than 5,000 doors and made thousands of calls across the District. We’ve been organizing and building a field operation across this District. If we want to win, we cannot stop here. The work we do in these next two weeks will make all the difference on June 16. Every volunteer shift, every door, every phone call makes a difference. Even one hour of your time can help move us forward.

When you knock on doors and call out to voters, you are engaging in direct voter contact. Speaking to a voter one-on-one, either on their doorstep or over the phone, gives you the chance to listen and engage on a personal level. Direct voter contact is ultimately the cheapest and most effective way to mobilize people to vote. I challenge and encourage you to come knock on doors and make phone calls on behalf of your preferred candidate.

Whether you sign up to door knock, make calls, deliver yard signs, or drive voters to the polls, you are actively participating in a grassroots movement. You are joining something bigger than yourself—a movement that takes a “bottom-up” approach, prioritizing the needs and perspectives of the community directly affected by an issue. So, this week, I ask, get involved! Sign up for a volunteer shift! Help this movement win!

Vote June 16.
